Empowering Smallholder Farmers with Climate-Smart Solutions!
In response to P4G’s call for private sector-driven climate-smart business solutions, Solar Village Ethiopia, in partnership with Oxfam, has launched the “Resilient and Green-Based Business for Inclusive Access to a Healthy Diet” project. This initiative is designed to strengthen the resilience of smallholder farmers in Ethiopia by providing:
- Solar-powered water pumps for reliable and affordable irrigation
- Organic vegetable & fruit seedlings to enhance agricultural productivity
- Vermicompost to improve soil fertility and boost yields
To ensure the project’s success, we conducted a three-day capacity-building training (March 25-27, 2025) in Shaggar City (Koye Feche & Melka Nono Sub-Cities). This training focused on:
- Entrepreneurship & business management
- Gender-sensitive leadership
- Sustainable, climate-smart business practices
A total of 78 MSME members (40% women) and eight experts from local woredas and sub-cities participated, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to build resilient and thriving businesses.
Together, we are fostering a greener, more inclusive future for Ethiopian farmers.
