Driving Demand for Climate-Smart Agriculture in Shaggar City!

On June 19, 2025, Solar Village Ethiopia (SVE), with the generous support of P4G and in partnership with the Shaggar City Agriculture Office, successfully conducted a Field Day Event at the vegetable demonstration site in Lega Mitta Kebele, Arabsa Woreda, Koye Feche Sub-City—hosted by climate-resilient farmer Mandefro Abu and his group.
🔍 What Made This Event Special?
✔️ Real-time demonstrations of solar-powered irrigation systems and organic seedling production using compost
✔️ Promoted market-oriented vegetable farming practices adaptable to climate change
✔️ Facilitated direct linkages between smallholder farmers, buyers, SMEs, and Siinqee Bank loan officers
✔️ Empowered farmers with critical market information and access to finance pathways
👥 The event gathered 63 active participants, including:
🔸 45 smallholder farmers (8 of whom were women) from Lega Mitta Kebele
🔸 18 agricultural experts and officials from Shaggar City and Koye Feche Sub-City
🔸 Producer groups, SMEs, local authorities, agricultural extension teams, and financial service providers
💬 The Field Day created a practical learning environment that showcased the tangible benefits of green technology in agriculture—increased productivity, cost savings, and environmental sustainability.
